Beat Maker vs Music Producer

There have been many arguments about the difference between a beat maker and a producer, or if there is any difference. For my money there is a huge difference, but it's easy to get the lines blurred.

let's explore each title

Beat maker: Anybody can be a beat maker. if i gave my mom and hour of my time to each her the basics of FL Studio, i bet she'd have her first drum pattern made in no time. With technology and the internet, everybody is a beat maker. Everybody can download software and start making a bunch of crap.

But

what the beat maker lacks in structure, knowledge, and vision................is where the Music Producer comes in.

Music Producer: he or she is the overall general of the song arrangement. A producer can be a beat maker, but a beat maker can't be a producer. You need to be able to hear something rough, and see the potential of the song if done properly. Many music producers may not be classically trained instrumentalists, but many are born with the innate gift of hearing HITS.
many people will scream up and down that they gift, but it's evident in their work, that that gift is lacking. It used to be that an artist would get up with a producer and they would vibe in the studio, with the producer controlling the details of everything from the DB Levels of the drums to how the singer breathes while singing.

Such an art form is almost lost in this generation.

With the internet, the swarm of beat makers flooding the market with crap, and the speed at which record labels release artists. The job of the producer has increased ten-fold. Many producers need to have their songs completed b4 they send them out, i.e Intro, verses, hooks, bridges, etc. All this needs to be there for labels to hear you......A&Rs have told me straight up "only thing that should be missing from your beat is the artist".
In many ways it makes sense, but this corporate approach has led to the influx of Beat Makers disguising themselves as producers, and leading the way for "Microwave hits"......u sabi those songs now...........they're hot on the radio for like 2 mins and next thing you know, you forgot who the hell made this crap and even worse you're wondering why you're singing it.

Anyway.....that's my analysis on that issue

till the next time
